Controls: DMX-512

Most major entertainment-oriented lighting manufacturers support DMX512 protocol. With it, the user may mix and match various items to assemble a complex and varied rig, but still control everything from one central device. Merging, splitting, and converting between DMX512 and other protocols are some of ENTTEC's specialties, so if those issues come up in planning a control system for LEDs, we have a range of suitable products to recommend.

Every single fixture in the Aleph line is controllable with DMX512, either inherently or when plugged into a properly configured power supply or LED driver. This is superior to the non-dimmable LEDs that can be found in some corners of the market. Caution should be employed also if considering the use of line-powered LEDs if dimming them is a goal, because often those solutions respond very poorly at the low end of the brightness scale, making a smooth fade impractical.

ENTTEC doesn't stop at DMX512 compliance. ENTTEC gear is also compliant with the Remote Device Management (RDM) standard, an extension of DMX512. RDM lets the user adjust configurations and starting address remotely. Some Aleph fixtures employ RDM to allow for monitoring of on-board feedback sensors remotely.
